On Monday, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced a further tightening of cooperation with Russia. In a message to President Vladimir Putin, Kim highlighted the importance of "comprehensive strategic cooperation" between the two countries. This information was shared by the North Korean news agency KCNA.

Kim Jong Un sent New Year's greetings to Putin and all Russians, including Russian soldiers. He expressed his readiness to further strengthen bilateral ties, which, as he noted, have been elevated to a new level this year.

The North Korean leader, in his speech, wished that the year 2025 would be remembered as the first in the 21st century when "the Russian army and people defeat neo-Nazism and achieve great victory."

Military cooperation

In June of this year, Kim and Putin signed a mutual defence agreement. This document stipulates that each party will assist the other in case of armed aggression. North Korea has already sent tens of thousands of soldiers to Russia, who are fighting in the Kursk region against Ukrainian forces.

According to information from Seoul and Washington, at least 1,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded.
