The 76-year-old King Charles III, who was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024, was admitted to the hospital owing to side effects from treatment. Buckingham Palace stated that the monarch has already returned to Clarence House, his residence in London. Currently, the length of his hospital stay and the type of cancer have not been disclosed.

"He very much hopes that they can be rescheduled in due course and offers his deepest apologies to all those who had worked so hard to make the planned visit possible," could be read in the published statement.

According to a source close to the royal family, King Charles III is in good condition and continues to work remotely, making calls from his office.

Despite the brief hospitalization, the planned visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla to Italy next month is expected to proceed as scheduled. Queen Camilla did not accompany her husband to the hospital.
