In Moscow on May 9, on the occasion of the Russian "Victory Day," as every year, a military parade will take place on Red Square, with celebrations throughout Russia. According to foreign media, soldiers who participated in the fighting in Ukraine will also march in it. Videos and photos have appeared online from Moscow, showing the preparations for the celebration.
The footage shared on X and YouTube shows a rehearsal of the military parade, featuring, among others, KamAZ-6350 with Shahed-type drones and T-34-85 on trailers. This indicates how the Kremlin plans to use these celebrations for a propaganda demonstration of strength.
What vehicles will we see at the May 9 parade?
In the video, a wide range of military equipment can be seen that is to be showcased during the May 9 celebrations in Moscow. Among them are historical vehicles like the SAU SU-100, which were last seen in 2015. Additionally, the parade will feature modern IFVs like "Kurganets" and K-17 "Boomerang,” which have not yet been used in the conflict with Ukraine, but always attract great interest.
The president of Serbia is heading to Moscow
The May 9 celebrations in Russia are traditionally an occasion to showcase military strength and remind the world of historical victories. This year, according to available materials, the Kremlin is aiming to connect the past with the present, enhancing the propaganda message.
"The Kremlin, in its propaganda efforts, intends to combine its mythology of World War II with a demonstration of its capacity to continue warfare against Ukraine," writes Defence Express. This indicates that Russia wants to emphasize its readiness to continue military actions while referencing historical symbols.
The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, is heading to Moscow for this occasion—a statement from the Serbian government has been issued. It states that Serbia, along with Russia, will jointly celebrate the "Victory Day" on May 9.
