The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, during his visit to Singapore, underscored that sanctions against Russia will be a "credibility test" for Americans. Macron indicated that if Moscow does not decide on a ceasefire in Ukraine, then Washington must confirm its commitment to imposing sanctions.

Macron expressed Europe's readiness to take action in the absence of a response from Russia. During a press conference in Singapore, the French president highlighted that he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump, who expressed his impatience with the matter.

I spoke 48 hours ago to President Trump who showed his impatience. The question now is what do we do? We (Europeans) are ready – Macron emphasized, as quoted by the New Indian Express.

Recognition of the Palestinian state

In addition to issues related to Russia, Macron also addressed the situation in the Middle East. He stressed that the recognition of the Palestinian state is "a moral duty" and "a political requirement." He added that Europe must take a firmer stance against Israel if the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip does not improve.

Earlier, on May 10, Macron along with other European leaders visited Kyiv, where they threatened Moscow with massive sanctions in case of no ceasefire. These announcements have not yet been implemented, which emphasizes the importance of current talks and decisions.
