Maxar resumes satellite data sharing, aiding Ukraine's defence

Maxar Technologies, a Canadian-American satellite technology company, has restored Ukraine's access to the Global Enhanced GEOINT Delivery (GEGD) program. This information was confirmed by users who received email notifications from Maxar on March 12.

Access to the GEGD program was temporarily suspended by the Trump administration due to political tensions between the United States and the Ukrainian government. This decision was a consequence of the prohibition on sharing intelligence data with Ukraine, aimed at pressuring the Ukrainian government into negotiations.

The data from the GEGD program was used by Ukraine to conduct attacks on strategic targets in Russia and precisely guide American weapons near the front line. The ban on sharing satellite data impacted both users affiliated with the Ukrainian government and private parties monitoring the current situation on the front lines.

On March 11, 2025, after negotiations between Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia, the suspension of intelligence data and military aid delivery to Ukraine was lifted.

Support for Ukraine

The restoration of access to Maxar's satellite data is crucial for Ukraine, which, in the face of the conflict with Russia, requires precise intelligence information. With this access, Ukraine can more effectively plan its military actions and better protect its territory.

Further support from the United States, both in the form of intelligence data and military aid, is essential for maintaining stability in the region and supporting Ukraine in its efforts to defend its sovereignty.
