McMurtry Speirling: redefining speed with revolutionary tech

McMurtry Speirling is the British sports car that has recently been making waves, and it doesn't surprise me at all.

The first reason for its sudden fame is the Top Gear track record. The McMurtry Speirling tackled the challenging course at the Dunsfold airfield in 55.9 seconds. Behind the great result is not only its incredibly powerful electric engine but also some technical tricks.

The creators of the vehicle decided to use an underbody fan that generates an extreme downforce equivalent to 2,000 kilograms. All this, even while stationary. The device makes the car literally stick to the surface. Anyway, see for yourself.

The McMurtry Speirling is the first car capable of driving upside down without using aerodynamic downforce. This is not a feature that will come in handy in everyday life. However, it certainly showcases the technical prowess of the design.

Production of the McMurtry Spéirling Pure will be limited to 100 units, with deliveries planned for 2025. The car, intended exclusively for the track, does not have road homologation, and its price is 820,000 pounds, which is equivalent to about 1.4 million Canadian dollars.
