Although last Saturday, the eyes of the entire world were focused on the deceased Pope Francis, the presence of Melania and Donald Trump did not go unnoticed. Cameras captured the politician's wife reprimanding him to prevent a mishap.

The dignified attire of the First Lady received warm reviews in contrast to his navy blue suit, in which he arrived at the Vatican. The situation, as reported by American media, also stirred a lot of emotions. They wrote about the couple's "fictitious" and "awkward" kiss just before boarding the plane.

Donald Trump was criticized for not wishing his wife a happy 55th birthday, which coincided with the day of the Pope's funeral. News of the media commotion likely reached Melania, prompting her to make an exception and speak publicly.

The First Lady shared a black-and-white photograph taken during the funeral mass on her official profile. Her eyes were closed in it because, as she claims, she was deep in prayer.

I had the honor of attending Pope Francis’ funeral, on this day, where I prayed for the healing of those who are suffering and for peace in the world — she wrote on Instagram.

Melania Trump also thanked everyone who extended sincere birthday wishes to her. Upon returning to the White House, her husband also commented, assuring that he had not forgotten her birthday.

Speaking to reporters, he shared that they had an excellent dinner and praised her as an outstanding First Lady, noting that the public very well received her.

The presidential couple supposedly had the mentioned dinner aboard Air Force One. Perhaps they chose not to do so in Europe due to the solemnity of the circumstances following the death of the head of the Catholic Church.

Melania Trump is connected with the Catholic religion

There has been a long-standing discussion about the former model's connections to this religion. She is the second wife of a sitting U.S. president, raised in the Roman Catholic faith, following Jacqueline Kennedy. She was born in Slovenia, which was part of Yugoslavia in 1970.

The 55-year-old did not hide her emotions during Pope Francis's funeral, and due to these emotions, she would occasionally cover her face with a black veil. Agata Duda stood right behind her.
