Mint tea magic: The ultimate thirst-quenching remedy
When I was planting more of these herb bushes on the balcony in May, I knew what I was doing. There's no better addition to tea when the heat is pouring down from the sky. This drink is traditionally consumed in Morocco. It’s sweet, refreshing, and quenches thirst like nothing else.
We often turn to mint to address digestive issues. It enhances the secretion of gastric juice and bile, thus soothing stomach pains. However, when it's scorching outside, it's also worth appreciating its cooling and refreshing effects. You can enjoy it in several ways.
What to drink to quench your thirst during a heatwave?
When it's hot, many people reach for cold beverages. But they only provide relief for a moment, then the thirst returns. Therefore, during heatwaves, tea is the best choice. Loose leaf tea, which is more aromatic, works perfectly. However, even the best leaves need companionship to deliver a truly refreshing feeling. It's recommended to add mint sprigs to the brew. This herb contains menthol, which cools and quenches thirst simultaneously.
How to make a refreshing tea?
Preparing this drink is simpler than you might think. Both black and green tea can be used. Simply brew your favourite tea in a pot or cup and add fresh mint sprigs to it (just rinse them under running water beforehand!).
After brewing, remove the sprigs and sweeten the drink to taste. Sugar or honey will work well. Try to enjoy the brew warm, although it also tastes great cold. Then the refreshment will arrive quickly, and your thirst will be quenched for a long time.
What kind of mint to add to tea to quench thirst?
Any type of mint is suitable for teas and brews. The most popular are peppermint and regular spearmint, which is milder. You can also easily find chocolate, ginger, lemon, or curly mint.
New varieties are constantly emerging, indicating how popular this herb is. Moroccan mint is used in the aforementioned Moroccan tea. Its aroma is very strong. However, any kind of mint contains menthol, making it perfect for a drink on hot days.
