Mystery explosion in moscow targets former pro‑Russian figure
More information is emerging about the explosion in Moscow on Monday. According to Ukrainian media, a Ukrainian named Armen Sarkisyan died in the blast. He was being pursued for fighting on the Russian side and organizing militias that, in 2014, disrupted pro-European demonstrations in Kyiv.
Sarkisyan succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. According to the portal "Ukrainska Pravda," Serhiy Shkryabatovskyi, a former bodyguard of President Viktor Yanukovych, who fled to Russia after being overthrown in 2014, was also injured in the explosion.
Sarkisyan had been sought for years for organizing the so-called titushky, who attacked participants of the Maidan protests. Since December 2024, he was wanted for recruiting prisoners from penitentiary institutions in the Donbas regions controlled by Russia to fight against Ukraine.
The explosion occurred in a residential building on the Alye Parusa estate in Moscow.
Attack in Moscow. Leads point to Ukraine
In December, Ukrainian special forces claimed responsibility for an explosion in Moscow, in which General Igor Kirillov, the commander of the Russian Chemical, Biological, and Radiation Protection Troops, died.
Kirillov was sanctioned for the alleged use of chemical weapons during the conflict with Ukraine.
