During his visit to the United States, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met with US President-elect Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. The meeting occurred at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, as informed by Bertalan Havasi, the spokesperson for the Hungarian government, cited by the MTI agency.
Orban was accompanied by Peter Szijjarto, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Gellert Jaszai, the president of the Hungarian technology company 4iG.
Hungarian media did not disclose the topics of the discussions. Still, they speculate that they might have been concerned about the regulation of issues regarding the Russian occupation of parts of Ukraine.
Orban leading a "peace mission"?
Since Trump’s victory in the election, Orban and the US President-elect have had several phone conversations.
Commentators on the nepszava.hu portal suggests that Trump’s return to the White House could allow Orban to play a more significant role in international politics.
Orban could undertake a peace mission to Kyiv and Moscow, conveying "Donald Trump’s message" regarding ending the war in Ukraine.
