Panic on the wing: Passenger's anxiety triggers chaos
A woman climbed onto the wing of an Alaska Airlines plane due to a panic attack. A recording of the incident was posted online.
The footage, released by local police, captures the moment when the woman steps onto the wing of an Alaska Airlines plane that had landed in Seattle. The Boeing 737 had arrived from Milwaukee.
Immediately after landing, one of the passengers opened the emergency exit to get outside. The woman, wearing a red shirt and dark pants, with a backpack on her shoulder, approached the edge of the wing and attempted to get down to the ground. However, she slid down, sat on the wing, and began waving to airport workers.
The passenger spent almost a minute on the wing before airport workers noticed her. The emergency services operation lasted another 12 minutes. Eventually, firefighters helped her down using a ladder.
Alaska Airlines confirmed that an incident involving a "disruptive passenger" occurred. The crisis team responded, and the passenger was taken to the hospital for examination. Doctors revealed her actions were caused by an anxiety attack.
Opened the door before takeoff
The "Daily Mail" reminds us of a similar incident. A previous one took place on an Air Canada plane when a passenger opened the door just before takeoff, falling from a height of about 20 feet onto the tarmac. The Boeing 777 was set to depart from Toronto to Dubai, causing a six-hour delay.
Local authorities reported that the man was in a "state of crisis." Despite the fall from a height, the passenger sustained relatively minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
