Why is pear syrup effective?
Pear syrup is a unique natural remedy for alleviating cold symptoms and respiratory infections. Pears are rich in pectins—a type of fibre that creates a protective layer on mucous membranes, preventing them from drying out and becoming irritated. As a result, coughing becomes less bothersome, and the throat heals faster.
Pears also contain vitamin C and phenolic compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which help the body fight infections. Additionally, they are a source of natural sugars that gently support a weakened body by providing energy during illness.
The addition of honey to the syrup enhances its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, as honey is known for its ability to inhibit bacterial growth and soothe throat inflammation. Ginger, cinnamon, and cloves—optional syrup ingredients—have a warming effect, support the immune system, and help eliminate toxins from the body.
How to use the syrup?
Pear syrup can be consumed on its own—1-2 tablespoons several times a day—or added to warm tea as a natural sweetener. It also works great as a topping for desserts or crepes, making its health benefits a delicious pleasure.
