Polish and allied jets respond as Russia strikes Ukraine

The Operational Command of the Armed Forces informed about the deployment of Polish and allied aviation in Polish airspace in response to Russian attacks on western Ukraine.

"In connection with the activity of long-range Russian aviation, carrying out strikes on facilities located, among others, in western Ukraine, the deployment of Polish and allied aviation in Polish airspace has commenced," the Operational Command of the Armed Forces informed us in the morning.

As stated, according to the applicable procedures, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces has activated all available forces and resources.

Standby fighter pairs have been scrambled, and ground air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness. The measures taken are aimed at ensuring security in areas bordering the threatened regions.

"The Operational Command of the Armed Forces is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and resources remain in full readiness for immediate reaction," added the communiqué.

Massive attack on Ukraine

Russian forces launched missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and Kharkiv, causing numerous explosions and fires.

The attacks caused severe damage in several city districts. In the Svyatoshyn District, there were fires in six locations, and there may be people under the rubble. In the Shevchenkivskyi District, fires were reported in buildings, and in the Holosiivskyi District, fires occurred in garages and cars.

Among the injured individuals hospitalized by doctors are three children and a pregnant woman, informed Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko shortly after 8 PM Eastern Time.
