A smoothie is a great snack idea, and today it might even serve as a meal replacement. You can choose ingredients that help alleviate constipation, bloating, and other digestive issues that occur after hearty meals. A liquid diet can relieve the liver and stomach. We've got a simple, cost-effective, and efficient smoothie idea for you. Chances are, you won't even need to shop for the ingredients. You likely have everything you need in your kitchen. You can enjoy this smoothie in the morning or during the day. And don't forget to stick to this habit! Incorporating it into your routine regularly is beneficial, not just post-holidays.

Important base

Dairy-based smoothies are popular because they are filling and high in protein. Do you often use milk, yogurt, or buttermilk for them? This time, try kefir. Kefir is an excellent prebiotic, containing microorganisms that help alleviate digestive issues. Regular consumption offers many benefits, as it regulates bowel movements, reduces bloating, and eases the feeling of fullness. The second important ingredient in the smoothie is bran. Bran, the outer layer of the grain, is used to make other cereal products like flour and groats. It contains fibre, protein, carbohydrates, as well as vitamins, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus, all while being low in calories. For the smoothie, choose natural bran. It contains the most fibre, which enhances digestion.

Fruit additions

Kefir and bran are the smoothie's base, but additions also influence its taste and effects. The first is dried plums. Even in their dried form, these fruits are a prebiotic long known for aiding digestion. They owe this to their fibre content. Dried plums also contain sorbitol, a natural laxative, which helps alleviate constipation. Before using them in the smoothie, soak them in hot water for a few minutes. You can also add kiwi to the smoothie, although it's optional. Besides fibre, kiwi contains potassium, an electrolyte that supports proper digestive function. Kiwi also contains actinidin, a digestive enzyme that ensures the proper functioning of the stomach and intestines.
