Prickly pear oil, often called "liquid gold," is one of the most precious plant oils in the world. Its production is incredibly labour-intensive, making it one of the most expensive oils available on the market. Seeds from about 470 kilograms of fresh prickly pear fruits are needed to obtain a litre of this valuable elixir. Nevertheless, its price is significantly lower than luxury creams (about $7 to $12 per bottle), and the effects are comparable.

This oil is rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, polyphenols, and amino acids, which give it strong anti-aging effects. Vitamin E, known as the "vitamin of youth," protects the skin from harmful free radicals and supports regenerative processes. Regular use of prickly pear oil improves skin texture, making it smooth and fresh.

Application in daily skincare

Prickly pear oil is incredibly versatile. It can be used on any skin type, making it a universal cosmetic. Thanks to its linoleic acid content, this oil regenerates the skin and maintains proper hydration levels. The phytosterols in the oil strengthen the skin, stimulate its renewal, and improve elasticity and firmness.

Even after the first use, spectacular effects may be noticed. The skin becomes more hydrated and exhibits a healthy glow. Prickly pear oil is excellent for mature skin because it quickly hydrates, firms, and smooths existing wrinkles.

Using prickly pear oil in daily skincare

Due to its moisturizing and regenerating properties, prickly pear oil is recommended for caring for dry and sensitive skin. It is an excellent source of plant sterols, which can reduce skin inflammations and soothe irritations. This oil is also recommended for allergy sufferers because its natural composition does not irritate sensitive skin.

Prickly pear oil can be used as an alternative to serum — apply it daily to clean skin or under makeup. It also works well as an under-eye cosmetic to effectively prevent drying of the thin skin. It can also be used on hair to add shine and elasticity while protecting it from damage.
