Sergey Krikalev, a well-known cosmonaut, was reappointed as Russia’s special representative for space cooperation. The decision was announced by President Vladimir Putin, and the information appeared on the official site for publishing legal acts. Krikalev replaces the former head of Roscósmos, Yuri Borisov, in this position.

Krikalev already held this role from January to February 2024, before being replaced by Borisov. Previously, from 2016 to 2021, Krikalev was the executive director of Roscósmos for crewed programs.

His career at Roscósmos ended after controversies related to the film "The Challenge" filmed on the International Space Station.

Sergey Krikalev is a figure with an impressive record. He has participated in six space missions and has been awarded the titles of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of the Russian Federation.

His experience and merits make him an ideal candidate to represent Russia in international space projects.
