Putin's helicopter at center of drone skirmish in Kursk region
The commander of the air defence division, Yuri Dashkin, claims that Vladimir Putin's helicopter was "at the epicentre of repelling a large-scale attack by Ukrainian drones" during the dictator's visit to the Kursk region.
Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.
Dashkin, on Rossiya24, stated that the air defence forces simultaneously engaged in combat and ensured the safety of the president's helicopter in the airspace.
Putin at the epicentre of the attack?
"[Helicopter of Russian President] was virtually at the epicentre of repelling a large-scale attack by the enemy’s drones. The intensity of the attack during the flight of the aircraft with the Commander-in-Chief over the territory of the Kursk Region increased significantly. Therefore, we simultaneously conducted an air defence battle and ensured the safety of the presidential helicopter’s flight in the air," said the air defence division commander.
As a result, according to Dashkin, 46 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed, and the machine with Putin on board safely landed in Kursk.
Putin in the "liberated" Kursk region
The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin visited the Kursk region on May 20. He met there with volunteers, local government authorities, and the acting governor, Alexander Khinshtein. He also viewed the construction of the Kursk-2 nuclear power plant. This was Putin's first visit to the region after its complete "liberation" from the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
