Quick breakfast fix: Simple yogurt and fruit smoothie

I opt for this smoothie when I don't have time in the morning to prepare a meal. All I need is plain yogurt and fruit. It turns out delicious, filling, and healthy. It can also easily replace dessert.

The smoothie is nutritious and filling because it's made with plain yogurt. Fruit also offers plenty of nutritional value. Of course, it's not ideal for an everyday breakfast, but when there's no time to prepare a meal, it's a helpful trick. You can also pour the smoothie into a sports bottle and take it.

Yogurt works in the morning

Dietitians often recommend plain yogurt, especially for breakfast. Traditionally, Greeks, who are known for maintaining good health for a long time, start their morning meal with it. This product's most essential and unique aspect is the live bacterial cultures supporting gut flora. This translates to better digestion and immunity.

Regular consumption of yogurt can also aid in weight management, thanks to its high protein content, which keeps you feeling full longer. That's why you can enjoy this smoothie in the morning without hunger bothering you too soon. Yogurt is also a good source of vitamins and calcium.

Fruits perfect for a smoothie

The second essential ingredient of this smoothie is fruit, one of the few food types that can be eaten on an empty stomach. Bananas are easily digestible and rich in potassium, magnesium, and B vitamins. They are an excellent energy source and contain fibre, which aids digestion. They also contribute a great taste. Yogurt can be quite tart, while a banana adds sweetness, making a good combination. You can enhance it with lime juice, giving it a distinct citrus note. It’s also worth considering strawberries at this time of year as their flavour pairs well with both banana and yogurt.

Quick breakfast smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of plain yogurt,
  • 1 ripe banana,
  • 1/4 lime (optional),
  • a handful of strawberries (optional),
  • 125 mL of water (optional).

Preparation method:

  1. Pour the yogurt into a tall container and add a banana cut into pieces. Add lime juice from a quarter of a lime and/or a handful of strawberries without stems.
  2. Blend everything until it reaches a smooth consistency. If necessary, thin it with water and blend briefly again.
