Russian Shahed-136 drones have been equipped with new 90-kilogram warheads, which are produced both in Russia and in Iran (where Shaheds originate from). The new warheads replace the previous 50-kilogram versions, increasing their effectiveness. The new warhead has a combined cumulative, fragmentation, thermobaric, and incendiary effect - it says.

New technologies in Shahed-136 drones

Compared to older variants, the new Russian warhead, designated KOFZBCh, uses the unchanged explosive material TGF-35P2 (a combination of TNT and phlegmatized RDX), allowing it to reach a combustion temperature of up to 3,500 degrees Celsius.

Cooperation between Russia and Iran

Moscow and Tehran cooperate intensively in the production of Shahed-136 drones, even though these drones are produced in Russia at two plants. The new warheads are another step in modernizing these devices, which are constantly being improved in terms of technology and usage tactics. Russia continuously modernizes its drones, including satellite navigation systems, to increase their resistance to interference. Moreover, the Russians plan to intensify the production of Shahed drones.

Let's explain that the Shahed-136 drones are characterized by unique delta-shaped wings, which measure approximately 3.4 metres in length and have a wingspan of about 2.4 metres. These unmanned aerial vehicles can carry combat loads weighing up to 40 kilograms. Thanks to the Limbach L550E engine, these drones can reach a maximum speed of about 185 km/h. Such specifications make them effective in various military operations.
