Russia pauses attacks on Ukraine; Zelensky vows firm response
The Kremlin reported after the conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump that Russia agrees to a 30-day suspension of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. However, Ukrainians doubt the sincerity of these intentions and expect an imminent breach of the declaration by Moscow. Zelensky has already announced a firm response.
- We have always supported the position of not attacking the energy sector with any weapons - emphasized the Ukrainian president.
He stated that Ukraine will not leave Russian attacks on energy infrastructure unanswered. However, Zelensky did not specify what kind of response he had in mind.
Trump-Putin conversation. Russia sets conditions
The phone conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin ended late Tuesday afternoon. In the statements issued after its conclusion, both sides conveyed that the Russian dictator agreed to a 30-day suspension of attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities.
Russia has conditioned a full ceasefire on the complete cessation of the West's supply of arms and intelligence data to Ukraine.
- This is a case of Putin's dictate, to which President Trump yields - assessed General Roman Polko in an interview with Wirtualna Polska, when asked about the conversation between the US president and the Russian dictator.
According to the general, the 30-day suspension of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure is needed by Putin "to rebuild the missile base."
