Russia unleashes intense drone and missile assault on Kyiv
Overnight from Friday to Saturday, Russian forces attacked Ukraine, including Kyiv. Dozens of Russian drones flew over the city, and shortly after, Putin's army launched ballistic missiles. Fires broke out in several places, resulting in injuries.
As per monitoring reports, the Russians launched approximately 170 drones over Ukraine. More than 20 targeted the capital, Kyiv, with around 50 nearby.
When the drones arrived over the city, the Russians also launched several ballistic missiles.
The recording below demonstrates, among other things, the work of the air defense in Kyiv.
According to authorities, fragments of downed drones and missiles fell in several locations throughout Kyiv. Rescue workers have been sent to these areas.
Hearing powerful explosions is common in the city.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that eight people were injured.
In the Solomianskyi district, drone fragments fell on a residential building. In the Obolonskyi district, a missile fragment was recorded to have fallen. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, there were fires in two places. Emergency services also intervened in the Shevchenkivskyi and Obolonskyi districts.
The Ukrainian State Emergency Service (DSNS) issued a statement about the removal of the attack's effects in the city.
In the Solomianskyi district, a fire was extinguished on the 4th and 5th floors of a building, with one person rescued showing signs of smoke inhalation. In the Obolonskyi district, balconies on four floors were burning—three people were evacuated, and four sought medical assistance. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, efforts are ongoing to extinguish a fire in a paint warehouse following the Russian attack. It is still being determined if there are any casualties.
