Russian drones breach Belarusian airspace amid Ukraine conflict
During the drone attack on Ukraine overnight from Thursday to Friday, several Russian drones flew into Belarusian territory. A Belarusian Su-30 was scrambled from the Baranovichi airbase, reports the monitoring group "Belarusian Hajun."
According to the Belarusian monitoring group, two Shahed-type drones flew over the village of Komaryn (Gomel region) and returned to Ukraine through the Chornobyl power plant zone.
Another drone crossed the border into the Gomel region in Belarus, near the Ukrainian town of Lyubech in the Chernihiv region.
The Belarusian Air Force scrambled a Su-30 aircraft from the Baranovichi airbase in the Brest region. It flew south towards Mozyr in the Gomel region.
Russian drones again violated the airspace of an ally
Two hours later, "Belarusian Hajun" reported that two drones flew from the Chernihiv region into Belarusian territory, followed by another two. There is no information that any of them returned to Ukrainian territory.
This is not the first instance of Russian drones violating Belarusian airspace during attacks. As noted by "Belarusian Hajun," the Belarusian military has shot down Russian unmanned aerial vehicles in similar situations in the past.
On October 3, Russian assault drones entered Belarusian airspace while a helicopter with Lukashenko on board was in the air.
