Russian drones disrupt Ukrainian soccer match amid attacks
Russian drones have once again attacked Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv. President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video showing the moment of the attack during a soccer match.
"Ordinary Ukrainian cities: Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipro. Ordinary life, and Russian strikes that should never have happened," wrote the President of Ukraine on social media late Wednesday evening (Eastern Time).
He posted footage showing a soccer match abruptly interrupted by a Russian attack. The players hurriedly fled the field, a loud explosion was heard, and one dropped to the ground.
Zelensky pointed out where the Russians source the drones used to attack Ukrainian cities.
"Every day in Ukraine is marked by large-scale attacks with strike drones, mostly "Shaheds"—it was Iran that taught Russia how to produce such drones," emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky in a social media post.
He added that on Wednesday, dozens of drones attacked Kharkiv, one of Ukraine's largest cities. The portal Ukrainian Pravda reported later that Russian troops conducted drone attacks on Kharkiv and the village of Zolochiv on Wednesday evening, causing damage to civilian infrastructure. In Kharkiv, nine people were injured, and in Zolochiv, eight.
"No country should have to go through this. And against this backdrop, speaking about easing pressure on Russia, lifting sanctions, and so on, is definitely inappropriate and unhelpful. Russia kills people every day and drags out this war. The U.S. proposal for an unconditional ceasefire has been on the table for half a month now. Pressure on Russia is needed to save lives and to make diplomacy work faster and more effectively. Without pressure on Russia, there will be no result," summarized Volodymyr Zelensky.
