Russian missile attack on Sumy claims 31 lives, injures 83
At least 31 people have been killed and 83 injured in the latest Russian attack on Sumy. The largest group among the victims comprises passengers of the trolleybus. Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's HUR intelligence, revealed that the attack was carried out using two Iskander missiles.
As Budanov pointed out, a missile strike on Sumy has become yet another example of Russian war crimes, taking the lives of innocent Ukrainian civilians. On Palm Sunday, many were either on their way to church or returning home from the service when the attack happened. It’s yet more proof of the godlessness and brutality of Moscow's actions.
The head of Ukraine's HUR intelligence also noted that the Russians targeted the city with two Iskander missiles equipped with cluster warheads.
Attack on Sumy: The number of victims is rising
Meanwhile, Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the number of victims has risen to 31, with another 83 people injured. Among the deceased are children.
Volodymyr Zelensky commented, calling for a strong reaction from the West. "It is crucial that the world does not stay silent or indifferent. Russian strikes deserve nothing but condemnation. There must be pressure on Russia to end the war and guarantee security for people," reads a post on the X platform.
"The world must respond firmly. The United States, Europe, everyone in the world who wants this war and these killings to end. Russia wants exactly this kind of terror and is dragging this war out. Without pressure on Russia, peace is impossible. Talks have never stopped ballistic missiles and aerial bombs. What’s needed is an attitude toward Russia that a terrorist deserves. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine and helps us defend life," Zelensky added.
