Over 70 people, including several children, were injured in a Russian missile attack on Sumy in northeastern Ukraine. A school and a hospital were among the damaged structures.

As a result of the Russian missile attack, which took place on March 24 in the capital of the northeastern region of Sumy, 74 civilians were injured, including 13 children, the City Council reported.

"The enemy struck the city centre. Several residential buildings were affected, as well as a school—fortunately, the children were in a shelter, and they have been evacuated safely. Everyone is alive and well," stated Volodymyr Artiukh, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

Artem Kobzar, acting mayor of Sumy, explained that the target of the attack was an industrial facility; however, other buildings were also affected as a result of the strike.

"Today, the enemy attacked an industrial facility. The residential sector and the city's infrastructure were damaged, including facilities for children and a hospital. All emergency services are working at the scene," he wrote on Telegram.

Anton Gerashchenko, advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, also published recordings from the site where the missiles landed.

According to Ukrinform, the fire that broke out in apartments of a five-storey building with a total area of about 150 square metres, as well as in a private house with an area of about 50 square metres, has already been extinguished.

Emergency services are still working at the site.
