Russia's latest anti-drone tech likened to a 'tank grill'
The Russians are trying different methods to shield their equipment from drones. A video has appeared online showing a "cage" used by Putin's military to protect tanks from aerial threats. Jokes are circulating that the cover looks like a grill.
The Russians have lost a lot of equipment because of the war in Ukraine. We all remember how, at the very beginning of the conflict, entire columns of tanks heading toward Kyiv were devastated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As recently reported by the WP Tech portal, Russia has lost over 10,000 tanks—at least according to data provided by Kyiv. Considering that Moscow had several tens of thousands of tanks in 2022, the losses are staggering.
War in Ukraine. This is how Russians protect tanks from drones
During the ongoing conflict, drones play a key role. With their help, Ukrainians manage to target objectives both along the front line and far beyond the battle line. Refineries, which with their resources support Putin's army, are being destroyed at the rear of the front.
However, drones are still destroying Russian tanks, causing huge losses on the battlefield. The Russians have found a method that has already spread across the internet. The invaders attempted to protect the vehicle with a cage around the turret.
According to the War Translated profile, this did not protect the tank from a drone attack. The cage proved ineffective. Therefore, the Russians decided to improve it and cover the turret with steel cables. This "technology" has already gained notoriety. It is described as a "grill." Indeed, looking at it from the outside, the cover somewhat resembles a barbecue grill rack.
