The dangerous situation occurred on Thursday, October 3, at the airport in Brindisi. Following the incident, the airport in Italy's Apulia region was closed for several hours.

Moments of terror on the Ryanair plane

A spokesperson for the Irish carrier stated there were unexpected complications. "Flight FR8826 from Brindisi to Turin was delayed this morning after cabin crew observed fumes on the outside of the aircraft," the statement said.

When the cabin crew spotted flames from the right engine, they immediately opened the doors. Inflatable emergency slides were deployed, allowing nearly 200 passengers to exit the aircraft swiftly.

Passengers who exited the plane were safely transported to the airport terminal, where they waited for a new aircraft. The passengers safely continued their journey to Turin when the new plane was arranged.

A team of firefighters quickly arrived at the scene. The rescuers arrived on time and expertly managed the situation at Brindisi airport, reads a report published on platform X, on account @FL360aero. Photos of the flames, the extinguished plane, and a video of passengers leaving the plane via inflatable slides were also published there.

Incidents at Italian airports

This is yet another incident involving the Irish carrier at Italian airports. Just two days earlier, four rear landing gear tires of another Ryanair plane burst, damaging the runway at Bergamo airport.
