Saab partners with ICEYE to revolutionize radar data integration
The Polish-Finnish company ICEYE has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Swedish group Saab to integrate advanced radar data with military command systems.
The goal of this strategic cooperation is to integrate ICEYE's state-of-the-art SAR technology solutions with Saab's command and control systems, which will enhance tactical decision-making and increase situational awareness in defense, according to Saab.
Saab and ICEYE will collaborate
The company adds that the capabilities of space sensors are becoming crucial for modern armies, providing access to critical information in challenging conditions.

Carl-Johan Bergholm, senior vice president and head of Saab's business division, states in an official statement that Saab's integration of ICEYE's data will enable the acquisition of high-resolution images in real time, even in cloudy and dark conditions. This will allow for comprehensive surveillance and reconnaissance and facilitate faster and more informed decision-making in complex operational environments.
ICEYE has the world's largest constellation of radar satellites (SAR—Synthetic Aperture Radar), currently operating 44 satellites in low Earth orbit.
ICEYE, meaning 'Ice Eye,' was created to monitor changes in ice cover. The company's first contract was with the American giant ExxonMobil, which involved using satellites for oil transportation via the Northern Sea Route from Moscow. After the annexation of Crimea, the first million-dollar order vanished overnight, as sanctions specifically targeted the northern resource transport route. What seemed like the end suddenly became a new beginning, as the information accessible through ICEYE became invaluable. Rafał Modrzewski, a co-founder of ICEYE, was a guest on "Business Class," where he discussed the company's operations in detail.
