Ocasio-Cortez called on rally participants to take action, emphasizing that it is the people, not institutions, who are the last line of defence for democracy. She declared that the people of Idaho are the guardians of the nation’s freedoms. She underscored that choosing democracy, freedom, and justice means fighting against the influence of big money.
Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez appealed for organizing against the oligarchy and emphasized that only mass actions can bring change. Ocasio-Cortez urged people to unite in order to overcome the power of the oligarchy.
In the last elections, Sanders was re-elected to the Senate, defeating Republican Gerald Malloy, and will represent the state of Vermont for the fourth time.
