Senator Van Hollen faces criticism after meeting in El Salvador

Senator Chris Van Hollen of the Democratic Party met with Abrego Garcia in El Salvador. Garcia is an immigrant from the United States, accused by Republicans of ties to the MS-13 gang and deported by Donald Trump's administration. El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele spoke on the matter.

The Abrego Garcia case is stirring American public opinion and media. The man was deported from the United States to El Salvador. He is accused of illegal migration and membership in the MS-13 gang.

The US Supreme Court stated that the charges against Garcia are unfounded and ordered the man to be brought back to the United States. A legal error in Abrego Garcia's deportation was partially confirmed by Donald Trump's administration lawyer during the trial.

Although Americans admitted to the mistake, Donald Trump and El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele are not eager to fix it. According to the Democratic Party, Abrego Garcia is a victim of the oppressive deportation system devised by the U.S. president.

One of the Democratic senators, Chris Van Hollen, met with Garcia. This sparked major controversy in conservative circles. According to Republican Party politicians and El Salvador's president, the senator from Maryland was seen having something resembling a margarita during the meeting.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, miraculously risen from the "death camps" & "torture", now sipping margaritas with Sen. Van Hollen in the tropical paradise of El Salvador! - wrote Bukele on X.

Bukele thereby referred to accusations that Garcia was detained and tortured by Salvadoran services.

Van Hollen did not directly comment on the allegations from Bukele and American conservatives. He only stated that he sends expressions of support for Abrego Garcia's family.
