The kitchen sink is exposed to daily grime, such as grease, food remnants, and lime scale deposits. Regular cleaning is key to keeping it clean. After each use, it's beneficial to wipe the sink with a sponge soaked in dish soap, which helps remove residues and prevent stubborn stains.

How to clean a dirty sink?

In addition to daily cleaning, more thorough methods can make the sink look like new. A dishwasher tablet can be helpful. Pour a small amount of warm water into the sink and drop in one dishwasher tablet. As it begins to dissolve, thoroughly wipe the sink's surface, including around the faucet.

One of the most effective ways to clean the sink thoroughly is with a homemade cleaning paste. Mix four tablespoons of baking soda, two tablespoons of laundry detergent, two tablespoons of toothpaste, and three tablespoons of water. Spread the prepared mixture over the sink's surface, scrub it with a sponge, and leave it for one hour. Then rinse the sink.

Tricks for lime scale and a clean drain

Lime scale is a common issue in kitchen sinks, especially in darker ones. Vinegar and baking soda are a proven duo that can help remove deposits. Pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by the same amount of vinegar. Then, cover the drain for 30 minutes. After the time has passed, rinse everything with hot water.

To check if the drain is clean, you can use the ice cube trick. Just fill the sink with ice cubes and turn on the water. The ice will partially block the drain, and dirt from the pipes will be pushed back into the sink, allowing you to assess its condition.
