Sinead O'Connor, who passed away in 2023, left a will detailing her bequests to her children. The contents of the document have only recently been revealed.
The Irish artist Sinead O'Connor died in London on July 26, 2023. She was 56 years old and passed away a year and a half after she lost one of her sons. Recently, the British media, including The Sun, obtained her will. The document reveals that Sinead's estate, valued at over a million pounds, was left to her four children: Shane, Roisin, Yeshua, and Jake. In Canadian dollars, this would be approximately $1.7 million.
Sinead O'Connor's will also includes details about mementos. Her mother's religious relics were to go to her late son Shane and her guitar collection to her youngest child, Yeshua. Her first husband, music producer John Reynolds, was the will's executor. The artist's children are also to decide on the scattering of her ashes.
In the last months of her life, Sinead O'Connor struggled with grief after the loss of her son. Shane, Sinead's son, went missing at the beginning of January, and his body was found a few days later. The boy had previously been in Tallaght Hospital in Dublin for mental health issues. Sinead blamed the facility for her son's death, claiming that care duties were not fulfilled. Shane left a farewell letter describing how he wanted his funeral to be.
The singer posted concerning entries on the X platform after her son's death, sparking speculation about her passing. British authorities revealed that her death was due to natural causes related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma. In 2018, Sinead O'Connor converted to Islam, changing her name to Shuhada Sadaqat. In her will, she expressed her wish for her albums to be released posthumously so her children could benefit from them. The executor of the will was her former husband, John Reynolds. The artist wanted to be dressed in a tunic and buried with a Hebrew Bible on the day of her funeral.
