The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued warnings for 70 million residents of the eastern coast of the USA. Snowstorms and severe frost threaten areas including New York, Philadelphia, and Boston. The warnings are in effect in the Mid-Atlantic region and New England.

Up to 25 centimetres of snow may fall by Monday morning in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Connecticut, and even up to 90 centimetres along Lake Ontario. After the snowfall, low temperatures and strong winds are expected, which may make road conditions difficult.

The AP agency reports that weather conditions are already disrupting air traffic in the New York area. Nearly 130 flights have been cancelled, and more are delayed. Difficulties have also affected travellers in Washington and Boston.

New York Mayor Eric Adams has urged residents to use public transport to reduce the burden on snow removal services. He has also recommended helping neighbours who might have issues with heating or frozen pipes.

By Monday morning, roads will remain dangerous, especially along the I-95 highway corridor from Washington to New York. Residents should exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.
