On Monday, a tragic shooting occurred at Martin's supermarket in Elkhart, northern Indiana. Three people, including the attacker, were killed, and two police officers were injured. The condition of the officers, who were taken to the hospital, is described as stable.

A police spokesperson reported that law enforcement is interviewing witnesses to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. Local media, including WNDU-TV, are reporting statements from those present at the scene.

Pregnant mother Erin Swary, who was in the store during the shooting, described her experience. Initially, she thought a balloon had burst, but when she saw everyone lying on the floor, she did the same.

- I’d say there were six to eight more shots afterward, one after another. I just lay on the ground, completely paralyzed - she said.

"Heroic rescuers"

Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson, in a statement, asked residents to pray for the victims, including the two injured police officers, whom he called heroic rescuers.

Indiana Governor Mike Braun stated on social media that he remains in contact with local and state law enforcement regarding the shooting.
