Media on Trump's move: The first weapon sale to Ukraine

According to media reports, the value of the transaction is at least $50 (CAD 69) million. The decision comes after a several-week period of suspended military aid to Ukraine.

The proposed sale includes the export of defence articles, including technical data and defence services. This information was to be submitted to Congress under the Arms Export Control Act, which allows the U.S. president to control the import and export of defence articles and services.

Security analyst Colby Badhwar noted that the sale of American weapons to Ukraine continues despite earlier predictions that Trump would completely cut off Ukraine. "All DCS are quiet; they don't get announced publicly like Foreign Military Sales," he says in an interview with the portal.
