As a result of discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, an agreement was reached to stop attacks on energy infrastructure by Russia and Ukraine.

"Result of the Trump-Putin conversation: Shaheds are flying over the Kyiv region, a major enemy attack is underway. Statements were made about agreements to halt strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days, but unfortunately, not about stopping air attacks on civilians," said Andriy Kovaleko, head of the Ukrainian Centre for Countering Disinformation, in a recording posted on Telegram.

Alert in Kyiv

Shortly after the phone call between Trump and Putin concluded, an alert was declared in Kyiv and the Kyiv region due to a massive attack by Russian Shahed drones. "Trump and Putin agreed to make further arrangements, and we have to do our part" – emphasised Kovaleko.

The alert in Kyiv was announced after 2 PM Eastern Time, and shortly afterwards, explosions and the sounds of anti-aircraft guns could be heard. Further explosions and bursts from heavy machine guns that shoot down drones occurred after 5 PM.

The app warning of Russian attacks issued elevated threat level alerts every few minutes. They were accompanied by appeals for the residents of the Ukrainian capital to urgently go to shelters.
