Trump's aides do not want him to talk to Putin
It's not known whether the talks will actually happen. As Politico writes, Trump's entourage advised him not to call Putin until the Russian leader agrees to a complete ceasefire in Ukraine.
Kyiv agreed to a 30-day ceasefire if only Russia would comply. However, Moscow refused.
At the end of March, Donald Trump said he was "angry" at Vladimir Putin for not moving toward an agreement. He added that he plans to talk to him soon. The U.S. and Russian leaders last talked on March 18.
