The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has voiced his unhappiness with Apple's decision to shift the production of iPhones for the American market to India.

"I had a little problem with Tim Cook yesterday. I said to him, ‘Tim, you’re my friend. I treated you very good. You’re coming in with $500 billion.’ But now I hear you’re building all over India. I don’t want you building in India," said Trump, quoted by CNN.

Apple has decided to move iPhone production from China to India to avoid higher tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. The company estimates that these tariffs could increase its costs by approximately $900 million (1,250 billion CAD) this quarter.

As CNN highlights, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, previously informed analysts that most iPhones sold in the U.S. will come from India.

According to journalist Dan Ives from Wedbush Securities, the price of an iPhone could rise to $3,500 (4,900 CAD) if they were produced in the USA.

Apple's investments in the USA

In February, Apple announced an investment plan worth $500 million (700 million CAD) to expand facilities in the U.S. over the next four years, which is expected to create 20,000 jobs. The company is also trying to expand its supply chain beyond China, including increasing the production of Mac Pro computers in Texas.

Apple is one of the most recognizable and influential technology companies in the world. Its logo – the bitten apple – has become a symbol of innovation, prestige, and excellent design.

Since its founding in 1976, Apple has not only delivered revolutionary products but also significantly impacted the development of the entire tech industry and the lifestyle of millions around the world.
