Trump stirs controversy with Houthi strike video on X
Donald Trump boasted about a recording of an attack on the Houthis. He published the recording, but not without a mocking comment. "Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis," he wrote.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated recently that the U.S. has conducted "over 200 successful strikes on the Houthis.
Donald Trump posted a video on platform X showing one of these attacks. Trump added a comment to the video, mocking the Houthis. "These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis! They will never sink our ships again!," he wrote.
The U.S. emphasizes that by bombing the Houthis' positions, they are fighting terrorism and protecting the freedom of navigation. Yemeni rebels have carried out over 100 attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip, stating that they support Hamas in this way. The group announced further strikes after Israel began the blockade of the Gaza Strip, then broke the truce, and resumed fighting.
Scandal. They discussed attack plans on the Houthis
Regarding Trump's post, it is worth recalling the scandal involving the planning of attacks on the Houthis. "The Atlantic" revealed that editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally added to a group on the Signal messenger, where top U.S. officials - including Vice President J.D. Vance, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth, and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz - discussed plans to attack the Houthi rebellion in Yemen. Goldberg followed the conversations from March 11, and the strike occurred on March 15.
