"I will be speaking, by telephone, to president Vladimir Putin of Russia on Monday, at 10 AM," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "The subjects of the call will be, stopping the 'bloodbath,' that is killing, on average, more than 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, and trade," he stated.
Trump further reported that after the conversation with Putin, he will call Volodymyr Zelensky, and together they will speak with NATO leaders. The American President did not specify which leaders he intends to talk to.
"Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should have never happened, will end," he added.
The failure of talks in Istanbul
On Friday in Istanbul, the first Ukrainian-Russian negotiations in three years took place. The talks did not lead to a breakthrough.
The delegations only agreed on the exchange of prisoners and that another meeting will take place.
