Trump touts tariffs as a path to wealth while blaming Biden
Donald Trump gave an interview to NBC in which he defended the decision to introduce tariffs and downplayed their long-term effects. He also claimed successes in the economy, blaming failures on Joe Biden. "He did a terrible job on everything," he stated.
"I'm just saying [children] don't need to have 30 dolls, they can have three, they don't need to have 250 pencils, they can have five," Trump stated, defending the decision to introduce strict tariffs. He referred to comments from a cabinet meeting earlier in the week when he dismissed concerns that the tariffs would lead to supply shortages in the American market.
The President of the United States stated that the newly implemented tariffs would significantly boost the nation's wealth, expressing confidence that they would lead to substantial economic prosperity.
Trump also downplayed the possibility of the long-term negative impact of tariffs on the U.S. economy, even if the United States experiences a recession in the short term. "Look yes, everything’s OK. What we are — I said, this is a transition period. I think we’re going to do fantastically," he said.
What's good is Trump, what's bad is Biden?
As reported by cnbc.com, Donald Trump in the interview credited himself for the "good sides" of the economy and unequivocally stated that the "bad sides" are consequences of Joe Biden's presidency, his predecessor.
"I think the good parts are the Trump economy and the bad ... Biden economy because he's done a terrible job," stated Trump. "He did a terrible job on everything," he added.
"Ultimately, I take responsibility for everything, but I've only just been here for a little more than three months," emphasized the President of the USA.
