Trump's policies divide Americans on cost of living and tariffs
Only 31% of Canadians approve of the cost of living resulting from President Donald Trump's policies, according to an Ipsos poll for the Reuters agency.
The results of the Ipsos poll, published by the Reuters agency, show that only one in three Americans is satisfied with the cost of living in the country, which is a result of President Donald Trump's policies. High tariffs on imports, which can contribute to rising inflation, are causing concern among citizens.
The survey found that positive opinions on Trump's activities in the areas of the economy, foreign policy, and fighting corruption do not exceed 40%. An exception is immigration policy, supported by 49% of respondents. The tariffs introduced by Trump include 25% on goods from Mexico and Canada and 20% on Chinese products. Economists warn that such actions may fuel inflation.
As indicated by the Reuters, Americans are divided on Trump's plan, which conditions support for Ukraine on obtaining shares in the exploitation of its mineral resources. 46% of respondents support this idea, while 50% oppose it. At the same time, 70% of those surveyed, including the majority of Democrats and Republicans, consider Russia to be the aggressor in the conflict with Ukraine.
Reduction of the federal government
The Ipsos poll shows that 59% of respondents support the reduction of the federal government, but only 40% agree with mass layoffs of civil service employees. This is opposed by 57% of respondents, including a quarter of Republicans.
Half of those surveyed, including 20% of Republicans and 80% of Democrats, believe that Trump has gone too far in the government spending cuts program, led by Elon Musk.
