Trump's threat of sanctions raises alarm over Putin pact
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, wrote on Friday on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he is considering imposing "large-scale" restrictions on Russia until a ceasefire and peace are achieved. He called on Moscow and Kyiv to "get to the table right now, before it is too late."
"Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely "pounding" Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large scale Banking Sanctions, Sanctions, and Tariffs on Russia until a Cease Fire and FINAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT ON PEACE IS REACHED," Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The President of the United States added: "To Russia and Ukraine, get to the table right now, before it is too late."
Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister has no doubts about Putin and Trump
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, meanwhile expressed on platform X on Friday his conviction that an agreement between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump has been formed.
"We didn’t know then that it had all been agreed in advance in the secret Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Today, we have no excuse for such naivety. It’s a safe bet that the Trump-Putin Pact already exists—and we should act accordingly," Landsbergis wrote.
According to him, U.S. President Donald Trump is keen on cooperating with the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, who, however, has demanded concessions in return, which "have already been promised."
"We may not know the full extent of those promises, but we must be prepared for all of it," Landsbergis assessed.
