U.S. approves $1.4B Chinook helicopter deal with UAE
Washington has given the green light for the sale of six Chinook helicopters and other military equipment to the United Arab Emirates, with an estimated value of 1.4 billion dollars, the U.S. administration announced on Monday at 2 PM Eastern Time.
The government decision was announced in connection with Donald Trump's tour of the Middle East, where he is likely to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, emphasizes Reuters.

During the trip, Trump hopes to secure numerous major economic contracts, ranging from defence to aviation, energy, and artificial intelligence, as well as make geopolitical decisions concerning Gaza and Iran.
This sale "will contribute to the security enhancement of an important regional partner." The United Arab Emirates is a key U.S. partner for political stability and economic development in the Middle East," stated the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) in a statement.
The State Department approved this decision, and the DSCA notified Congress on Monday, giving them 30 days to raise any objections.
In addition to the military CH-47F Chinook transport helicopters from the American manufacturer Boeing, a 130 million dollar deal was also approved for the maintenance of F-16 fighters.
