U.S. resumes intelligence sharing with Ukraine after talks
The State Department announced that the USA will immediately resume exchanging intelligence information with Ukraine and providing security assistance. This decision came after talks between high-ranking U.S. and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia.
The U.S. State Department announced the immediate resumption of intelligence exchange and security support for Ukraine. This decision was made following discussions between high-ranking officials from both countries in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement provided by Reuters, it was emphasized that the direct negotiations between U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio with the Ukrainian delegation in Jeddah were crucial for Washington's change of position.
The head of the Ukrainian president's office reported via Telegram that Ukraine agreed to the U.S. proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire on the condition that Russia complies.
"The delegations also discussed the importance of humanitarian actions in the peace process, especially during the mentioned ceasefire, including the exchange of prisoners of war, release of detained civilians, and return of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children," Andriy Yermak said.
New U.S. strategy towards Ukraine
During the talks, Ukraine unequivocally expressed support for President Donald Trump's vision of peace. As Waltz emphasized, Kyiv accepted the proposal for a complete ceasefire, which influenced the decision to reopen intelligence channels and resume military support.
Mike Waltz also noted that in the coming days, he plans to have talks with his Russian counterpart, while Marco Rubio is set to meet with the foreign ministers of the G7.
One key element of the discussions was reaching an agreement on the management of Ukraine's critical mineral resources. The USA and Ukraine agreed to sign a comprehensive deal swiftly.
