Lavrov emphasized that there are differences in the approach of Russia and the USA to the issue of Nord Stream.

Return to Nord Stream 2? The Union won't yield
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, declared at the beginning of March that she has not given up on phasing out Russian gas from Europe and her goal remains to gradually move away from it.
As she added, the RePowerEU instrument, aimed at gradually reducing Europe's dependence on Russian resources, is still in effect.

When asked about reports regarding a possible resumption of Nord Stream 2 work involving the United States, von der Leyen stressed the necessity of continued efforts. She acknowledged that while progress has been made, significant gaps remain that call for caution and sustained attention.
The spokesperson for the European Commission, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, also stated that Nord Stream 2 "is not the project of common interest. It does not diversify the EU’s energy sources."
