Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced on Monday that the stance on excluding Ukraine from NATO is pleasing to Moscow. According to Peskov, the Kremlin hears such a position "at various levels" from the United States.

According to Peskov, the Kremlin "heard from Washington at various levels that Ukraine's membership in NATO is excluded," and this is a position that "causes satisfaction" in Moscow.

The United States has presented Russia and Ukraine with a ceasefire proposal that involves freezing the conflict along the current front lines. As part of this proposal, the US also suggests easing sanctions on Russia. "US President Donald Trump signaled he could walk away from efforts to end the war in Ukraine if a deal can't be found soon," reports Bloomberg.

On Saturday, Bloomberg also reported that Washington is considering officially recognizing Crimea's annexation by Russia.
