UK boosts drone support: 100,000 units pledged to Ukraine
The British government has just announced that by April 2026, it will provide Ukraine with 100,000 drones. This represents a tenfold increase in this type of support from London for the Ukrainian military.
Reuters reports that the UK government believes unmanned aerial vehicles have transformed the way wars are conducted.
The delivery of thousands of drones worth £350 million (approximately CAD 567 million) is part of a broader initiative of British military support for Ukraine valued at £4.5 billion (approximately CAD 7.3 billion).
The British government also announced in a statement that it has completed the delivery of 140,000 artillery shells to Ukraine and will spend an additional £247 million (approximately CAD 400 million) this year on training Ukrainian soldiers.
