The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Tuesday that 205 soldiers have returned from Russian captivity. Among those released were both young boys and adult men, representing almost all branches and units of the Ukrainian armed forces.

These soldiers defended the country on various fronts, including in Mariupol, as well as in other regions where they were held by the Russian prison system.

This is another exchange of soldiers. On Saturday, April 19, 277 soldiers returned to Ukraine. This information was also confirmed at the time by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

International support

Zelensky expressed gratitude to all who contributed to this exchange, especially the United Arab Emirates for their mediation and assistance. He emphasized that Ukraine fights daily for its citizens and will do everything to ensure that each of them can return home.

I thank all those who do not stay indifferent and continue to speak out about Ukrainians in captivity, wrote the president on Telegram.

Wide range of actions

The Coordination Staff for Prisoners of War in Kyiv reported that the released soldiers defended Ukraine in various regions, including Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, and Kyiv. Tuesday's exchange was the fifth this year and the 64th since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Information about the prisoner exchange was conveyed by the Coordination Staff for Prisoners of War in Kyiv and President Zelensky, with details published on the Telegram platform.
