Ukraine, USA set for peace talks in Saudi Arabia sans Russia
Russia is not expected to participate in the upcoming talks between Ukraine and the USA in Saudi Arabia. The topics will include bilateral relations and ways to achieve peace.
In the discussions between Ukraine and the USA scheduled for next Monday in Saudi Arabia, Russia's participation is not expected. "The agenda includes Ukraine-U.S. bilateral relations, our strategic partnership, and its further development. And, of course, at the center of the discussion is the path to peace," stated Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi.
Tykhyi emphasized that Ukraine has not received any information about Russia joining the meeting. "We have not received such information. As far as we know, the negotiations in Saudi Arabia are meant to be bilateral Ukraine-U.S. consultations, a meeting, and a dialogue," he added.
Ukraine is prepared to enter into an agreement with the United States on mineral resources. The spokesperson emphasized that the deal would be advantageous for both sides, describing it as solid and expressing a strong desire to proceed with its signing.
Italy's proposal regarding NATO
The spokesperson also referred to the proposal by Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni concerning the extension of NATO's Article 5 to Ukraine.
Tykhyi emphasized that the statement is a valuable contribution to discussions on providing long-term security guarantees and ensuring stability and peace in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine actively engages with its Italian partners to gather further details about the proposal.
